Photo of the Day: Days 5-8

Things have been a bit mad around here. The one computer situation has been complicated by lots of out-of-the-house activities.

Day 5
On Friday we went skating.  It was hard to catch Princess Little in a picture. This was her third time skating and she didn't hang near the edges too much.

 

Day 6

On Saturday Princess Little and I went to see the symphony orchestra that came to post. They presented a Vinnese Pops concert that centered around music of the late 1800's early 1900's. That just happens to be the period we are studying in history so that was nifty! They had a wonderful baritone who sang, among other things,  Largo al factotum della citta from the Barber of Seville (you know, that Figaro song). 

When the orchestra was tuning up after the intermission one of the horns played a snip from the Star Wars theme. That was the highlight of PL's evening. Here we were waiting for the programme to begin. We were about an hour early because you never know how well attended things on post will be.  We really had a good time and both walked away humming. 

Day 7

We are the proud new owners of a trampoline! Some of our neighbours from down the road are moving and won't have room, so we bought their trampoline. The kids have loved it. What is funny to me is the kiddos from across the street come and jump even though they have a trampoline just like it in their back yard.

Day 8

We're talking about modernization. Specifically we talked about the invention of the light bulb and the completion of the US's first transcontinental railroad. For our history activity we rewired a lamp that I have had around the house for quite some time. Later this month I'm hoping we'll get the chance to take the kids for a ride on a steam train.
